Hosted Voice Solution Voip Exchange supports charity expansion

Our Hosted Voice Solution, Voip Exchange, has remarkably improved the day-to-day operations of The Brain Tumour Charity.

The Brain Tumour Charity is at the forefront of the fight to defeat brain tumours. They fund pioneering research to increase survival and raise awareness of the symptoms and effects of brain tumours. Crucially, to reduce diagnosis times and provide support to everyone affected, in order to improve quality of life. With over eighty staff across both their office in Farnborough and at remote community locations, their presence is national.

The Challenge

The Brain Tumour Charity relies on its communication services not only to raise awareness, but also to receive donations, provide support and offer information services on brain tumours – the biggest cancer killer of children and people under the age of 40 in the UK.

Under the previous phone system, staff members were sharing handsets and a rapidly growing team meant network capacity was limited. For a charity of this size to continue to grow, they needed the communications infrastructure in place to get closer to their goals of doubling survival and halving the harm that brain tumours cause.

The Solution

Sister company M2 Networks went the extra mile for The Charity and completely refurbished and re-cabled the infrastructure. This ensured that the charity would have reliable and efficient communications throughout the three-floored building. Now The Brain Tumour Charity can run their practice as opposed to their technology restrictions dictating their business.

Voip Unlimited installed a significantly faster data line (100Mbps Ethernet), allowing The Charity to operate their systems to the optimum level. Voip Unlimited also committed to donating specialist time and telecoms equipment to improve the efficiency of The Charity. We looked at departmental workflow, deployed system configuration of all 87 handsets, delivered user training and managed all number porting and migrations.

The Results

The new connectivity and hosted Voip Exchange platform has significantly improved the day-to-day operations of the charity. Increasing productivity and saving money, the charity can now focus on what really matters.  As Voip Exchange offers reporting, the Charity now has much more visibility on call statistics and forecasting performance. With the unlimited channels and enough handsets for staff, more people in need can get the ever-critical support.

The solution has benefitted the charity and its staff, both those based in Farnborough and those working remotely from regions around the UK, through the availability of web phones, cost-saving conference call facilities and departmental DDi’s.

Where are they now?

Amazing cost savings means more donations are going to supporting those affected by Brain Tumours whilst still collaborating and delivering the amazing service across their multi sites, remote working staff and fundraisers.

Since using the new connectivity and Cloud platform, Voip Exchange, The Brain Tumour Charity has had an increase in their call statistics by 79% from 2017 to 2018 in the first quarter alone. This means more people can receive support and more awareness can be created.
Additionally, The Brain Tumour Charity have extended their opening hours due to the influx of calls they were receiving. This led them to partnering with Rushmoor Citizens Advice to provide a weekly benefits clinic which offers specialist benefits advice and assistance to those affected by Brain Tumours.

Over a 12-moth period, the financial difference the benefits clinic is predicted to make for the families helped is nearly £420,000, meaning each person helped is on average £5,000 better off.

The Voip Exchange Solution has also enabled The Brain Tumour Charity to broaden the areas their workers cover by now having the flexibility of remote working.

“We are immensely grateful to Voip Unlimited for this tremendous gift of an integrated telecommunications system. The timing has been critical as we continue to grow and expand our services, saving us money and ensuring we keep costs to a minimum. It has allowed us to operate at a higher level, with information and systems that can enable us to continue to offer the best possible service to our beneficiaries and supporters.”

“Being able to see our hosted voice platform ‘Voip Exchange’ make such tangible differences to the efforts of one of the best charities supporting a cause close to my heart, is very humbling. The outcomes of technology are not always seen or understood, but by improving their systems and updating to a hosted voice solution, many lives across the UK are being improved, whether that be by the emotional support and information offered or the research to fund medical milestones. The simple fact that someone is guaranteed on the end of the phone has never been so important.”
